Established in 2003, the Initiative is a statewide partnership between private sector, K-12, higher education and state and federal government created to grow Kentucky-based STEM research commercialization and innovation, education and workforce development. Dataseam supports the DataseamGrid, a proprietary, statewide research computing infrastructure and directs activity to recruit and prepare a knowledge-based workforce for Kentucky.

Jackson County Schools, McKee, Kentucky; Bowling Green Independent Schools, Warren County, and Fayette County Public Schools, Lexington, Kentucky all ratified participation in the partnership through their respective Boards of Education.
These funds will continue ongoing initiatives led by Dataseam directed at mainly rural and underrepresented public students in K-12 districts statewide.
