Coal County Computing Program Seams of coal have fueled Kentucky’s economy for over 100 years. With coal severance funding we are deploying technology that will help Kentucky’s next generation of researchers, engineers and scientists create economic opportunity in a research-powered Kentucky. Participating schools and researchers are truly building Kentucky’s 21st Century economic future. In 2006, many schools in Kentucky’s coal produing counties began receiving new computers to replace outdated classroom workstations. Those same computers help provide university researchers with vast amounts of computing power. So, this unique program not only helps advance education for students, but also accelerates important research at our state universities. |
