Readying You for the Workforce
This two-year competency-based program requires coursework, mentorship, and on-job training as part of paid employment, providing practical work experience across three phases for students grades 11 and 12, preparing candidates for information technology careers, addressing vital sector demands in education, banking, healthcare, and state & local government for Kentucky.
Apprentice candidates complete a minimum 300 hours of training and instruction as well as 600 hours of paid employment during the Registered Apprenticeship. They have opportunities to earn industry-standard certifications and, similar to other skilled trades and Registered Apprenticeships, a federal Department of Labor Journeyworker Certification, indicating work-ready status and potentially getting them into the workforce sooner.
Registered Apprenticeship is overseen on behalf of the United States Department of Labor by the Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet (KELC), Kentucky’s State Apprenticeship Agency (SAA).
